Former Netherlands international Wesley Sneijder was so frustrated by the Arsenal vs. Atlético Madrid Champions League semi-final second leg that he considered asking UEFA to stop the match. The outspoken ex-Ajax, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan star believes the Budapest final should feature the other semi-finalists, PSG and Bayern Munich.

“I wanted to call UEFA after 35 minutes to ask them to cancel the game, tell the players to leave the pitch, and announce Bayern and PSG as the finalists. Honestly, this match was dreadfully boring,” Sneijder said.

Arsenal secured their place in the final with a solitary Bukayo Saka goal, overturning the 1-1 draw from the first leg.

“Watching Arsenal against Atlético Madrid didn’t feel like a Champions League semi-final. There was a lack of intensity, creativity, and genuine quality in the final third. In the final, I struggle to imagine them putting pressure on a team like PSG or Bayern. Based on what I saw tonight, it would be an easy win for either of them. At this level, you expect drama and top-class football, but we were far from that,” Sneijder added.
