The 34-year-old Japanese star, who started the day in 68th, failed to break par in any of his four rounds (72-75-72-76) in the final tune-up before next week’s PGA Championship, the year’s second major starting Thursday in Pennsylvania.
Ryo Hisatsune, who began the day in 29th place, shot an even-par 72 with two birdies and three bogeys, finishing tied for 45th at 1-under par.
Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan, 28, fired a 69 to complete a stunning comeback from one stroke back, carding a 15-under total to claim his first PGA Tour victory in his rookie full-time season. Rickie Fowler and others finished two shots back in a tie for second.
Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland rallied with a 67 from 37th place, finishing at 5-under par in 19th place.
