Choi Hye-jin Renews Quest for First LPGA Tour Win at Kroger Queen City Championship

Choi Hye-jin is set to challenge for her first victory on the LPGA Tour once again, teeing off at the Kroger Queen City Championship. The tournament will take place from July 15 to 18 (local time) at the Kenwood Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. It features a total purse of $2 million.

Last week, Choi narrowly missed her debut win at the Mizuho Americas Open, finishing tied for third after a strong performance that faded in the closing holes. She carded an 8-under 280 to share third place. Now, she looks to rebound and capture her elusive first title since joining the LPGA Tour in 2022.

Despite consistent play, Choi has yet to lift a trophy. Her best career results include runner-up finishes at the 2022 CP Women’s Open (T2), the 2023 Meijer LPGA Classic (2nd), and the 2023 Maybank Championship (T2). The current season has been promising: she has competed in nine events, placing inside the top 20 in all but two, and has recorded three top-10 finishes. She started the season with a T8 at the Honda LPGA Thailand, followed by a T5 at the Blue Bay LPGA, and most recently a T3 at the Mizuho Americas Open—her best finish of the year.

Several Korean players will join Choi in the field, including Yoon Ina, Kim A-rim, Kim Sei-young, and Lim Jin-hee—a total of 20 South Koreans are vying for the trophy. Yoon Ina, after a tough rookie season in 2025, has shown impressive form this year. Following a slow start in her first three events, she surged with a T4 at the Chevron Championship last month. Kim Sei-young, who lost a heartbreaking playoff at the JM Eagle LA Championship and then missed cuts in two subsequent events, aims to bounce back.

Defending champion Charley Hull (England), past winners Lydia Ko (New Zealand) and Minjee Lee (Australia) are also in the field. World No. 1 Nelly Korda (USA), who has won three times and finished runner-up three times in six starts this season, is the overwhelming favorite.
