Brazilian club Botafogo has been hit with its third FIFA transfer ban, announced on Monday (May 11), meaning the team remains unable to register new players for its squad.
The club had previously received two other FIFA transfer bans in recent months. In April, it was penalized for an unpaid debt to Bulgarian side Ludogorets over the transfer of striker Rwan Cruz. The forward was signed in February 2025 for €8 million (approximately R$48 million) and is currently on loan back to the same Bulgarian club.
In May, Botafogo faced two additional sanctions from FIFA. The first came on May 7, and the second on Monday, May 11, marking the third overall transfer ban for the Rio de Janeiro-based club.
